I love the look of this room! It has such a fun, airy boho feel. I’m a huge fan of the natural colors and texture. I love using things from the outside….you can’t beat FREE (and they look so pretty).

So many fun projects in here………which is so satisfying for me!

Like all the other rooms in the house we painted EVERYTHING and replaced the flooring!  Windows, doors, trim, and walls. You name it – we did it or are working on it.

This bedroom is in the basement and when we were picking out flooring I was a little worried about wood floors getting too cold with the Wisconsin winters. Go figure, we found out they are heated. I bet it’s a requirement here! If I would have known that I could have totally gone with painted concrete floors. Oh well, maybe next time.

This is the only before picture of this room that I could find out of the millions we have of everything else.

We had several pallets left over from the flooring, appliances, etc. so we only had to scrounge around for a few additional for this project. One call to the flooring store and problem solved. It’s amazing what you can find with a little time and the willingness to ask.

When we were building this everything was such a hot mess and we were in such a hurry to get everyone back into a bed that the idea of taking photos didn’t even cross my mind.  Sorry! You’re going to have to walk through this one the old school way….imagine it!

The base of the pallet bed is 4 pallets. We lightly sanded each to smooth out any rough hangnails. Pallets are a splinter magnet, it’s so easy to snag one!  Once we had the rough edges off we added a piece of plywood cut to size. We attached them to the pallets and gave each a quick sanding.

Being extra cautious of the new floors we added a few felt pads on the bottoms, just to be safe. Originally, we were going to screw each of the base pieces together once we had it in place, but we ended up just leaving them.  With the weight of the mattress and box springs they really haven’t moved, so I am not sure it would have made much of a difference.

The headboard is 2 pallets and a 2×4 cut to size. Simple!

This pallet bed is calling you to come hang out!  It’s such a simple project that really sets the tone for the room.

 

The wood shelves were a quick project that we threw together with some extra wood laying around. I think they are a fun element that brings more texture and design into the room.  The different natural woods create a theme throughout all of these pieces with their colors, textures, and patterns.  Don’t be afraid think outside the box with your look.  It’s yours, you can’t screw it up!

We got the chair when we were first married…..ages ago!  It has held up well and is super comfy. My plan was to recover it, but I lost that battle and it ended up in her room just how it is. Guess, that saves me the expense of having it reupholstered.

One of my favorite things are the hanging planters. We had a bad storm in July that knocked down a few tree branches and that inspired some additional tree trimming. I hoarded the bigger branches, even though I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them at the time. Worst case, I figured I would cut it into smaller logs that I could use somewhere in the house or on the porch.

These turned out so cute!

Like I said, this is a still a work in progress. I have been stuck trying to find a ceiling fan (which was a request) that goes with the “feel” of the room.  I am not a fan of ceiling fans so that makes my quest even harder and at the bottom of my priority list.

We still have a few other finishing touches, but overall it’s almost finished.  Tell me what you think?
